If you’ve ever struggled with confidence, self-doubt, or just feeling like other people were simply born more confident than you, this eye-opening conversation will show you another way to look at things. Because confidence is not something that is reserved for just a select few… confidence is something you can develop, practice, reinforce, and improve! So let’s get started!

Key Takeaways

  1. Confidence grows when you repeatedly show up (0:14:53)

The episode opens with Jacq introducing the first form of confidence: inherent confidence. This is the natural self-assurance that some people just seem to be naturally born with. Some people just seem to be naturally born with a strong self-belief. But what if you’re not born with it?

Don’t despair. The second form of confidence Jacq identifies is experiential confidence, and for most of us, this is where the real hope lives.

Drawing on Psycho-Cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz, Jacq explains that self-image is formed over time through stacked experiences. Childhood memories, feedback from others, small wins, losses, embarrassment, praise, and repeated behaviors all begin constructing an internal picture of who a person is.

Confidence builds the same way. It is not usually created in one dramatic moment. It is built brick by brick.

Jacq shares that she did not become confident all at once. She started with small moves that compounded over time by repeatedly showing up again and again..

For anyone building a business, that is huge. Confidence is often built in the doing. One sales call. One live stream. One upgraded outfit. One decision to show up like the person you are becoming that you repeat over and over again!

  2. Your environment can either reinforce confidence or weaken it (0:21:57)

Your confidence is reinforced by the environment that surrounds you.

When your outer world constantly signals neglect, clutter, or low standards, it’s harder to feel sharp, powerful, and ready. But when your environment reflects intention, you get an edge on yourself. Your surroundings begin supporting the identity you want to reinforce.

Jacq gives a perfect example from her own office. She cleared out old binders, stale materials, and irrelevant clutter that had been sitting untouched for years. The result was not merely a cleaner room. It was a calmer nervous system, a clearer mind, and a stronger sense that her current environment matched her new direction. That is confidence-building in a very real form.

  3. Developed confidence is the most actionable kind (0:26:02)

The third and most empowering category is developed confidence.

This is where the conversation links directly to the Conway Coaching System, especially the principle of integration. Developed confidence comes through intentional repetition.

It is built by impressing new ideas onto the mind, through the use of autosuggestion, until they begin to feel natural. Dave explains autosuggestion simply: it is a suggestion from yourself to yourself. You repeat a statement, visualization, affirmation, or belief often enough that your subconscious mind begins expressing it outwardly. That is how inner programming starts changing.

The exciting news is you CAN build more confidence, regardless of where you are starting from! It just requires willingness, repetition, and direction. Are you ready?

  4. Confidence is available to anyone willing to build it (0:34:23)

By the end of the episode, the message becomes clear: Confidence can be consciously developed by anyone willing to do the work.

That work may look like repeatedly showing up. It may look like changing how you dress or what you tolerate in your environment. It may look like writing affirmations every day, visualizing the version of yourself you want to become, or attacking limiting beliefs at the root.

What Dave and Jacq offer here is not a vague pep talk. It is a proven framework you can follow. Confidence can be inherited, strengthened through experience, or deliberately developed through inner conditioning. That means nobody is disqualified.

Stop waiting to feel confident before you move. Start building confidence by how you think, how you show up, and what you repeatedly tell yourself is true. You’ve got this! Listen to the full episode now!

If your current level of confidence isn’t where you want it to be, the good news is, you can improve it! Dave says that confidence or lack of confidence is a matter of belief, and beliefs are simply habits.

Many people think lack of confidence is a personality flaw. Dave argues that it is more accurate to see it as a repeated belief pattern. And as Dave says, when you do not like a result or behavior, attack the belief.

This is mental retraining. Dave’s point is that the original limiting belief came from suggestion anyway. Why not replace it with a better one? Tune in to full episode #57 to learn how!
